2027 MXGP Calendar: save the dates!

The 2027 FIM Motocross World Championship calendar will take the MXGP paddock to 20 rounds across four continents, offering fans another full season of one of the most spectacular forms of racing on two wheels.

And there is even more to look forward to, with several rounds also featuring the EMX and WMX championships. The FIM Junior MX World Championship has also been confirmed, with the event set to take place in Estonia.

The 2027 MXGP season will get underway at the end of February and run through September. But for riders and fans, there will still be one major event left on the calendar: the 2027 Motocross of Nations, which will be held in Assen, the Netherlands.

Let’s take a closer look at the 2027 MXGP calendar!

2027 MXGP and MX2 Calendar

The 2027 MXGP and MX2 calendar features a total of 20 rounds. Compared with the previous season, there are several changes, along with a number of venues that have yet to be confirmed.

As many as 15 circuits return from the 2026 calendar: Afyonkarahisar, Agueda, Almonte, Bariloche, Darwin, Foxhills, Kegums, Loket, Lommel, Montevarchi, Pietramurata, Riola Sardo, Shanghai, Teutschenthal and Uddevalla.

Three locations are still to be confirmed. These are the venue for the MXGP of Spain, which will be the fifth round of the season, the circuit for the MXGP of Portugal, and the venue for the MXGP of Switzerland, which was held in Frauenfeld last year.

There are also two confirmed changes. The MXGP of France will return to Saint Jean d’Angely, a venue with a long history in the World Championship. Meanwhile, China will host two rounds of the championship. Shanghai remains on the calendar, while a new event will be held in Ziyang on September 11-12, as new Chinese manufacturers continue to enter the MXGP scene.

2027 MXoN date and venue

The location of the 2027 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations was announced well in advance, as is customary for the event, which is planned several years ahead.

On October 9-10, the Assen circuit in the Netherlands will host what is widely regarded as the biggest motocross race in the world.

It will be a particularly interesting location, as the event will take place at the famous TT Circuit Assen, normally associated with two-wheel road racing such as MotoGP and WorldSBK. To host the MXoN, Assen will undergo extensive work, with part of the asphalt layout being transformed into a motocross track while making full use of the venue's excellent facilities for teams and spectators.

This ingenious transformation has already been successfully used in 2019, when the home team claimed its first Chamberlain Trophy with Jeffrey Herlings leading the Dutch effort. The Dutch fans and the entire Netherlands team will certainly be looking forward to returning to Assen for another MXoN.

2027 Junior MX and WMX Calendar

Alongside the 20 MXGP rounds, another major event on the 2027 calendar will be the FIM Junior MX World Championship, which will take place on the weekend of July 17-18 at the Parnu circuit in Estonia.

The Women's Motocross World Championship (WMX) will once again share several venues with MXGP. A total of five different locations across three continents make up the 2027 WMX schedule.
